Music and Bells

Music plays an important part of education at C.F Richards. To see videos of some of our performances check out our videos on Facebook.

Music classes meet twice a week and students experience singing and playing many musical instruments. Mrs. Mandy Wightman, our music teacher, has many years of experience in working with children. She also teaches piano lessons at the school.

Students in grades 5-8 participate in our Blue Ridge bell choir where they learn to read music, work as a team, and perform in front of a crowd. Blue Ridge Bells are  ringing enthusiastically for the Lord, the choir performs at local churches, nursing homes and other venues. In the past the choir has toured much of the east coast, parts of the Midwest, Canada, and Puerto Rico.  Every other April, the Blue Ridge Bells participated in the Potomac Conference Music Festival in Takoma, Maryland. The bell program has been in existence since 1988 and is directed by Mr. John Ward.
